Culinary Field Guide was started by a former Coast Guard cook with seven years of service in that role and Coast Guard culinary training. That background informs the questions this site explores. It is not a claim of having attended the civilian schools in this collection.
How the school profiles are researched
This first edition uses AI-assisted desk research of official program pages, catalogs and tuition schedules. Each profile links to the sources and states when the information was checked. No campus visits or student interviews were conducted for these profiles.
We keep price units visible, distinguish tuition from wider program charges, and note exclusions. When pages differ, we favor a clearly dated tuition schedule or catalog for the specific campus and credential, and explain material limitations.
How the first schools were selected
The starting collection illustrates different training structures: public associate degrees, an apprenticeship, a private culinary college and private career diplomas. It is a small editorial selection, not a complete directory or a ranking of the best U.S. schools.
The listed order is not a quality score. The guide does not verify graduate outcomes or promise employment, admission, accreditation, aid eligibility or a particular salary. Check each question against the program and awarding organization that matters to your plans.
